A lifelong resident of New Jersey, and a part-time resident of Florida for over thirty-five years, Judy Stach’s intimate understanding of life along the shore is reflected in her oil paintings of seascapes and landscapes, which come alive with children at play, sailboats breezing by, and gardeners lovingly tending to flowers. She also travels extensively, often by cruise ship, to get inspiration from different countries and cultures.

Her style is impressionist/realist, painting from real life (en plein air) and photographs, often combining both techniques to complete a work using the full range of colors, values, and light found only in nature.

Her skills have been honed over 45 years, with influences from some of the greatest artists of our era as well as many masters of the past including Richard Schmid, Anthony Ventura, David Leffel, Timothy Thies, Joaquin Sorolla, and Anders Zorn.

Judy is a Signature member of the American Impressionist Society, an Artist Member of the Salmagundi Club, NYC, an Elected Member of Audubon Artists, a Signature Member of Plein Air Florida, and the founder/co-president of Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast.

Her work has been published on covers of Jersey Shore Magazine in 2007, 2011, 2016, 2017, and 2019. In addition, articles about her painting were included in Vero Beach Magazine in 2005 and in 2011, and
The New York Times featured her painting, “On the Rocks” in the Arts Section in 2011. Many other publications have featured her work including Artist’s Magazine (2000),

Best of Florida Artists and Artisans (2006), American Artists Workshop Magazine (2008),

Plein Air Magazine (2005, 2011, 2015), Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine (2012), Inside NJ Magazine (2011), NJ Design Magazine (2012), and Cape Cod Review (2012). Recently, her work was written up in the December 2019 edition of American Art Collector Magazine in association with her inclusion in the Holiday 2019 Show for West Wind Fine Art.

Judy’s painting “Loveladies” was featured in the book “Long Beach Island Rhapsody” in 2006, and six of her paintings were featured in the book “To The Shore Once More, Volume III” in 2016.

In 2009, she was one of the featured artists in the Salmagundi Club show entitled “Childhood Innocence,” which showcased the work of Richard Schmid and his many mentees. In September 2017, she was a guest panelist for the Richard Schmid retrospective held in Gallery 1261 in Denver, the topic for which was “How Richard Schmid influenced their own art and the value of painting from light.”

Judy’s paintings have appeared in group and solo shows, and she has won numerous awards throughout the country. She is also an instructor and mentor to other artists, giving workshops in New Jersey and Florida.

Her collectors include individuals, corporations, national parks, municipalities, colleges, and hospitals and health care facilities throughout the U.S. and abroad.
